Zettel 202308210022 : CODE and PARA

Tiago Forte proposes two approaches to dealing with information abundance in today’s digital age.

He proposes CODE — Collect, Organize, Distill, and Express. He says that this methodology ultimately helps you create a commonbook of knowledge for yourself. And this can become like a second brain.

The next method he proposes is PARA — Projects, Areas (of responsibility), Resources, and Archives. Forte says that we should organize all digital information into those four categories. He says doing so will make us more productive. We will cut out unnecessary categories that actually impead us. Unnecessary categories separate important pieces of information. This makes it harder for us to form connections. Consolidating information to only these four categories will connect the pieces of information that really matter to us.

I am interested in how I can merge these ideas into this Zettelkasten.

He has two books that I’ll consider reading:

  • Building a Second Brain
  • The PARA Method
